Praying through First Samuel, Chapter 12 – Getting Ahead
I’m excited to share this 31-day marriage prayer series hosted by my friend and fellow blogger, Davonne Parks, The Tidy Mom. The series is taking place here at MarriagePrayers.today for the entire month of October.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Samuel was able to ask all of Israel about his own business dealings. Because while he was an imperfect man, he had high moral integrity. He didn’t cheat, steal, defraud, or manipulate.
May the same be true of us. Even if it feels like we need to be dishonest in order to get ahead, we know that You will bless us if we live a life of integrity. We want to trust that You will provide our daily bread and will not allow us to go hungry (Psalm 37:25).
And regardless or whether or not we ever become wealthy with earthly riches, we want to remember that the truest treasure – Salvation – is readily ours when we obey the Gospel.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
“[Samuel said], Behold, here I am: witness against me before the Lord, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you. And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man’s hand.” 1 Samuel 12:3-4, KJV
“[Samuel said], ‘Here I stand. Testify against me in the presence of the Lord and his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I cheated? Whom have I oppressed? From whose hand have I accepted a bribe to make me shut my eyes? If I have done any of these things, I will make it right.’ ‘You have not cheated or oppressed us,’ they replied. ‘You have not taken anything from anyone’s hand.'” 1 Samuel 12:3-4, NIV
