Praying through First Samuel, Chapter 14 – Trust and Respect
I’m excited to share this 31-day marriage prayer series hosted by my friend and fellow blogger, Davonne Parks, The Tidy Mom. The series is taking place here at MarriagePrayers.today for the entire month of October.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We want to work together as well as Jonathan & his armor-bearer did in 1st Samuel chapter 14. We can tell from reading verses 6-7 that they had a mutual respect and trust for each other.
Please help us to fully respect and trust each other, too. Convict us when we fall short in this area, and show us how we can correct our attitudes and words in the future.
And, Lord, if we’re not deserving of respect or trust, please forgive us for those sins and help us live in a way that is more honoring to You and to each other.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
“And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the Lord will work for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few. And his armourbearer said unto him, Do all that is in thine heart: turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart.” 1 Samuel 14:6-7, KJV
“Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, ‘Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.’ ‘Do all that you have in mind,’ his armor-bearer said. ‘Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul.'” 1 Samuel 14:6-7, NIV
