Praying through First Samuel, Chapter 18 – Fiercely Faithful
I’m excited to share this 31-day marriage prayer series hosted by my friend and fellow blogger, Davonne Parks, The Tidy Mom. The series is taking place here at MarriagePrayers.today for the entire month of October.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We read in 1st Samuel chapter 18 about the deep loyalty that Jonathan and David had for each other. They trusted each other and looked out for the other person’s best interests, even when it meant facing the wrath of King Saul.
We want to be faithful friends, Lord. We want to be faithful companions who offer strength and support to each other. Show us how we can put each other above our own interests. Help us to see when we need to stand up to anyone who tries to put a wedge in-between us.
Convict our hearts when we’re acting in selfish ways, and gently guide us back to a place of proper attitudes.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
“And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.” 1 Samuel 18:1, KJV
“After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself.” 1 Samuel 18:1, NIV
