Praying through First Samuel, Chapter 21 – Provision

I’m excited to share this 31-day marriage prayer series hosted by my friend and fellow blogger, Davonne Parks, The Tidy Mom. The series is taking place here at for the entire month of October.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We know that You provide in unexpected ways. We understand You won’t leave or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). Yet, sometimes we worry. We’re not sure how things will work out or how our needs will be cared for.

Help us remember that You’re not bound to tradition or cultural norms.

We want to fully believe that even though Your ways don’t always feel conventional to us, they make perfect sense to You. Because You see the big picture. You know everything. And You care more about our eternal salvation that You do about our temporary comfort.

Show us how we can trust You to provide the things we need and help us lay our wants at Your feet.

When we forget, please remind us that You always care.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

“And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste. And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.” 1 Samuel 21:8-9, KJV

“David asked Ahimelek, ‘Don’t you have a spear or a sword here? I haven’t brought my sword or any other weapon, because the king’s mission was urgent.’ The priest replied, ‘The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, is here; it is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you want it, take it; there is no sword here but that one.’ David said, ‘There is none like it; give it to me.'” 1 Samuel 21:8-9, NIV
