Praying through First Samuel, Chapter 22 – Safe Haven

I’m excited to share this 31-day marriage prayer series hosted by my friend and fellow blogger, Davonne Parks, The Tidy Mom. The series is taking place here at for the entire month of October.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Much like David provided a safe dwelling place in the cave of Adullam, we want to be a safe haven for each other. We desire to become a refuge, a source of strength, and a wall of protection.

Help us to provide that safety through our words and actions. Show us how we can be trustworthy as we seek to love each other well. When a situation arises that may cause physical or emotional harm, give us the courage we need to protect each other.

Convict our hearts about anything we may be doing that is generating insecurity or fear so we can grow into the spouse You want us to be.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

“David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him. And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.” 1 Samuel 22:1-2, KJV

“David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there. All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him.” 1 Samuel 22:1-2, NIV
