Praying through First Samuel, Chapter 23 – Resisting Evil

I’m excited to share this 31-day marriage prayer series hosted by my friend and fellow blogger, Davonne Parks, The Tidy Mom. The series is taking place here at for the entire month of October.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We’re troubled when we think about how Saul pursued David with such vengeance even though David had done nothing wrong. It reminds us of the way people went after Jesus the night of his crucifixion. And we know that today, Satan pursues us with just as much vigor (1 Peter 5:8).

Help us resist the temptations Satan tries to ensnare us with. His deceptions are sometimes discreet and seemingly small, but deep down we know that no amount of spiritual compromise is ever as small as it appears. Please show us anything we need to repent from.

We want to escape every snare the devil sets before us so we can be fully faithful to You and to each other.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

“Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbare to go forth.” 1 Samuel 23:13, KJV

“So David and his men, about six hundred in number, left Keilah and kept moving from place to place. When Saul was told that David had escaped from Keilah, he did not go there.” 1 Samuel 23:13, NIV
