Praying through First Samuel, Chapter 25 – Think Before Acting

I’m excited to share this 31-day marriage prayer series hosted by my friend and fellow blogger, Davonne Parks, The Tidy Mom. The series is taking place here at for the entire month of October.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Abigail was a peacemaker. She spoke and listened in a way that stopped David from killing hundreds of people out of anger and spite.

Help us be peacemakers, too.

Show us how we can lovingly encourage each other to consider our actions in advance. We don’t want to regret rash decisions that were made in the heat of the moment. Help us live a life of integrity as we inspire each other to make choices that honor You and that share Your love with others.

Teach us to think, pray, and study Your word before we act.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

“And it shall come to pass, when the Lord shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel; That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself…” 1 Samuel 25:30-31, KJV

“‘When the Lord has fulfilled for my lord every good thing he promised concerning him and has appointed him ruler over Israel, my lord will not have on his conscience the staggering burden of needless bloodshed or of having avenged himself…'” 1 Samuel 25:30-31, NIV
