Praying through First Samuel, Chapter 27 – Living Peaceably
I’m excited to share this 31-day marriage prayer series hosted by my friend and fellow blogger, Davonne Parks, The Tidy Mom. The series is taking place here at MarriagePrayers.today for the entire month of October.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your Word tells us to live peaceably with man, as much as possible (Romans 12:17-19). And sometimes, living peaceably means walking away. Not from each other. But from anyone who refuses to stop attacking our marriage.
Show us the boundary lines. Help us to see when we need to begin an honest conversation with someone who is harming us, and give us wisdom to know when it’s simply time to quietly back away as we set healthy boundaries.
And Lord, when our spouse tries to share hurts that are caused by another person, please grant us gentleness, patience, and wisdom as we seek to listen without casting judgment, while simultaneously being careful not to fuel their emotional fire.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
“And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.” 1 Samuel 27:1, KJV
“But David thought to himself, ‘One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up searching for me anywhere in Israel, and I will slip out of his hand.'” 1 Samuel 27:1, NIV
