Praying through First Samuel, Chapter 31 – The Final Result
I’m excited to share this 31-day marriage prayer series hosted by my friend and fellow blogger, Davonne Parks, The Tidy Mom. This is the final prayer in a series that took place here at MarriagePrayers.today for the entire month of October.
Dear Heavenly Father,
1st Samuel ends in tragedy. Our hearts are grieved when we read that Jonathan and his brothers were killed at the hands of the Philistines (1 Samuel 31:1-2). We’re saddened to see how Saul and his armorbearer died (1 Samuel 31:3-6).
And as much as we want things to wrap up in neat packages at the end of the day, life doesn’t always work like that. It disappoints. It hurts. It leaves us lonely, rejected, and grieving.
Yet, we can be joyous in spite of those things. Because You are in control. And even though we don’t always understand why bad things happen, we do know that You turn ashes to beauty (Isaiah 61:3), and that You are victorious.
We don’t have to be afraid of death, or tragedy, or sin. Because You win. You conquer all. Thank You.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39, KJV
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39, NIV
