Praying through First Samuel, Chapter 8 – Letting God Lead

I’m excited to share this 31-day marriage prayer series hosted by my friend and fellow blogger, Davonne Parks, The Tidy Mom. The series is taking place here at MarriagePrayers.today for the entire month of October.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We read in 1st Samuel chapter 8 about how the Israelites wanted a ruler, a king, who wasn’t You. And even though You knew the outcome would be poor, You allowed it anyways. Because they insisted. They were stubborn. They refused to listen to wisdom.

Help us learn from their mistakes. Sometimes we want something so badly that we push for it, and beg You to give it to us. But what we need to do every time is to seek Your will first. Because what seems so amazing to us may not be as good as we think it will be.

Grant us wisdom to know when we’re seeking Your will or when we want something so badly that we’re blind to the direction You want us to go. And please help us to be excited about following the path You set before us.

In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

“And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.” 1 Samuel 8:7, KJV
