Praying through Proverbs, Chapter 12 – Honesty

Praying through Proverbs, Chapter 12 – Honesty

Dear Heavenly Father,

It’s so easy to believe that seemingly little untruths don’t matter, whether it’s saying we spent less on an item than we really spent, or twisting little details about an event as we offer our own side to a story.

But Lord, whenever we tell these untruths, it’s an abomination to You, and we’re diminishing trust in our own marriage.

Please give us hearts that desire to be honest with each other. Help us respond in a loving and graceful manner when things are told to us that we don’t want to hear, so we can offer a safe place for our spouse to share.

Thank you for sending Jesus, the ultimate example of truth, and please guide us to live in a way that upholds Your Word, and that glorifies and honors You.

We want everything that comes out of our mouths to be honest, pure, and edifying to You and also to one another.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight. – Proverbs 12:22, KJV

The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. – Proverbs 12:22, NIV
