Praying through Proverbs, Chapter 20 – Alcohol Consumption

Praying through Proverbs, Chapter 20 – Alcohol Consumption

Dear Heavenly Father,

In our culture, the subject of alcoholic beverages is a hot-button topic among many Christians. We’re asking You for wisdom and discretion as we search this topic together.

Help us to consider the potential dangers that occur with alcohol consumption, such as drunkenness (Ephesians 5:18), possible addiction, lack of discretion, and the appearance of hypocrisy (1 Thessalonians 5:21-22).

We want to stay far away from sin, not see how close we can get to the fire before falling in.

We’d also like to intercede for those we know personally who are dealing with substance addiction. Help them want to break free. Please show us if there is any way we can assist and encourage them without enabling their behavior.

We hope to be a light for You and we don’t want anything, including alcohol, to cause our lights to stop shining brightly.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. – Proverbs 20:1, KJV
