Praying through Proverbs, Chapter 21 – Helping the Poor

Praying through Proverbs, Chapter 21 – Helping the Poor

Dear Heavenly Father,

Noticing the desperate needs of others hurts at times. It’s easier to close our eyes, cover our ears, and pretend we don’t notice. But they’re there – the ones who are barely surviving, in dire need of cool water, and Your Word.

We can sacrifice a small portion of our comfort to help someone in need. We don’t want to cover our ears and deny their existence any longer. This world will be broken and sin-filled until Christ returns, but we can be a shining light in the midst of the darkness. We can extend a hand to help someone.

As we’re seeking opportunities, guide us so we can use wisdom to assist, not enable, those whom we can serve. Help us pour out our lives as an offering to spreading Your love and Your truth.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard. – Proverbs 21:13, KJV

Whoever shuts their ears to the cry of the poor will also cry out and not be answered. – Proverbs 21:13, NIV
