Praying through Proverbs, Chapter 27 – Offering Encouragement
Dear Heavenly Father,
It was You who ordained marriage in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:23-24).
You laid Your guidelines for how we are to treat one another in marriage (Ephesians 5:22-28) and You showed us the greatest example of sacrificial love when You allowed Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, so we can have oneness with You in Heaven (1 John 2:2).
Help us to find joy in loving each other sacrificially. Guide us as we seek out ways to serve and encourage one another. We want to make each other feel relaxed and peaceful, like a good friend who is always happy for the presence of our company.
Please show us how we can allow our trials to refine and strengthen us as a couple (Psalm 66:10) so we can continue being each others closest friend and most encouraging advocate.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend… As the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so is a man to his praise. – Proverbs 27:17, 21 KJV
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another… The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but people are tested by their praise. – Proverbs 27:17, 21 NIV
