Praying through Proverbs, Chapter 28 – Earthly Riches

Dear Heavenly Father,

We want to be faithful to You. We want to honor You with our words, our actions, and our hearts (Matthew 22:37). But sometimes we struggle with having a desire for more stuff. The get-rich-quick schemes and lottery tickets that advertise promises of easy financial gain can feel tempting at times.

More than we need stuff and money, however, we need You. Your Word and Your promises are the only things that will last (Mark 13:31) and we don’t want any temporary allurement to cause us to lose sight of a glorious eternity.

Help us rid our hearts from any greed that makes us want to chase hasty opportunities for quick, easy dollars. Please guide us so we can work diligently and honestly at our jobs as we trust that You will bless our family.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent. – Proverbs 28:20, KJV

A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished. – Proverbs 28:20, NIV
