Praying through Proverbs, Chapter 5 – For My Husband's Purity

Praying through Proverbs, Chapter 5 – Husband’s Purity

Wife’s Prayer for My Husband

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for my husband and for Your beautiful gift of intimacy within marriage. Lord, You know where my husband struggles and You know every area where he has fallen short.

Please convict him of his sins as well as provide an opportunity for any communication barriers to come down so him and I can talk openly about the battles he’s facing.

Help me offer a soft place for his heart to land and guide me as I gently assist him in searching his soul.

Please open my eyes to any ways I have contributed to his stumbling, whether it’s been withholding intimacy (1 Corinthians 7:3-5) or allowing ungodly entertainment and immoral magazines into our home.

Help him continually choose openness, honesty, godliness, and integrity so we can have a pure marriage. Please assist me in healing from past hurts so I can discontinue keeping record of his wrongs in order to become the wife and help meet he needs.

In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Husband’s Prayer for Purity

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for my wife and for Your awesome gift of intimacy. Lord, You know when I gain momentary sexual pleasure outside of my marriage, whether it’s a flirtatious touch or a lustful glance (Matthew 5:27-28).

No sin is hidden from you (Psalm 139:23-24).

Help me choose openness and honesty with my wife as I confess to her about my areas of weakness. Please guide me so I can be gentle in speech and I ask that You open her heart so she will be ready to hear about my battles.

I know I should be seeking intimate pleasure and excitement only within my marriage. Give me strength to conquer these spiritual giants and help me cherish my wife and love her for the treasure she is.

In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets. Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee. Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. – Proverbs 5:15-18, KJV

Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well. Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares? Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers. May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. – Proverbs 5:15-18, NIV
