Marriage Prayer – For Joy Unspeakable

Dear Heavenly Father,

You Word talks about an inexpressible joy—a joy that’s indescribable, unspeakable, and full of glory.

We know that this kind of joy isn’t found in the things of this world.

It’s only through You that it’s possible to find peace in the midst of a storm.
It’s only through You that it’s possible to find hope in our darkest moment of sorrow and pain.

When we’re weak we rely on Your strength.
When we’re burdened we leave our worries at the foot of Your throne.
When we suffer loss we find comfort knowing that Your wisdom is great.

Help us to capture this joy, Lord, and help us to find it when we can’t see it ourselves.

In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: that the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. — 1 Peter 1:6-8, KJV

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuinenessof your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy. — 1 Peter 1:6-8, NIV
