Marriage Prayer – The Strength to Press On

Dear Heavenly Father,

Help us to press on when we feel like giving up. Renew our strength when we want to give in.

Paul writes, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:14

How many prayers have we given up on over the years, because they weren’t answered in our time?

How many people have we given up on, because they let us down?

How many unsaved loved ones have we written off, instead of praying for them?

How many times have we given up on each other, because we didn’t get our way?

We can’t change yesterday, but we can change today. We may have given up in the past, but there’s a future before us that’s calling us to much better things.

We need to be in prayer, and to stay in prayer, for each other and for those who are lost. We need stand strong when it comes to our marriage and stand firm when it comes to our faith. We need to dig into Your Word, and if we’re feeling let down and discouraged, we need to dig deeper yet. We need to choose love.

Strengthen us by the power of Your Spirit. Help us to fight the good fight with a passion to win.

In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. – 1 Peter 1:3-5, KJV

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. – 1 Peter 1:3-5, NIV
