Today’s Marriage Prayer – To Bring Out the Best in Each Other

Dear Heavenly Father,

Your Word tells us “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” And right after that, Your Word tells us to put these things into practice. And so, we’re asking that you would help us to practice these things in our marriage, Lord.

Help us to not only think on these things but to live them. Give us the strength to remain pure to each other, and the virtue to be noble and true. Teach us ways to admire each other and to build each other up in healthy ways. Help us to bring out the best in each other with the words that we speak, and the way that we love.

Remind us to keep our thoughts pure. To expect the best, to hope for the best, and to assume the best in each other.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. – Philippians 4:8-9, KJV
