Marriage Prayer – To Stand Strong In a Fallen World

Dear Heavenly Father,

We live in a world where many don’t hold the same values we have for our marriage. So many don’t believe the same way that we do when it comes to our faith.

Our lives are peculiar to those looking in, and our choices don’t always make that much sense.

We’re taking the unpopular route by following You, because we know it’s the best route by far.

Please give us the courage to stand up for our faith when we’re standing alone. Give us the strength to fight for our marriage when we’re the only ones fighting. And give us the power to hold fast to our faith, when others let go.

In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, and a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. – 1 Peter 2:7-9, KJV

Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, “The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” and, “A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. – 1 Peter 2:7-9, NIV
