Marriage Prayer – To Stop Pointing Fingers
Dear Heavenly Father,
It’s natural to want to point fingers. It’s easy to push your frustration off on somebody else.
What isn’t so easy to do is to step back from a situation to examine our own hearts.
Grant us the humility to accept responsibility. Grant us the strength to take the next step toward change.
If we need to apologize, let us take care of that quickly. If we need to forgive, bring us down to our knees asking for humility and wisdom to guide us. And if we need to reconcile our differences, bring us both to that place of open honesty where we can join hands in prayer, and move forward together.
In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, KJV
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, NIV
