Today's Marriage Prayer - Train Us to Work By Your Side

Marriage Prayer – Train Us to Work by Your Side

Dear Heavenly Father,

This marriage, our romance, our friendship, our first encounter… was never really a “chance” encounter, for we know it was planned from the beginning of time.

Your Word tells us that You know us intimately. You know when we sit and when we rise. You know our comings and goings. You know our thoughts before they roll off our tongues. You know us completely. All of our days were ordained before we took our first breath. And still You are counting the hair on our heads.

You know the plan that’s been set for this marriage. Like an architect, every element is drawn by Your hand. Every aspect is planned from the grand occasions we celebrate to the finest details at the end of each day.

And so, we ask, Lord, that You might train us to work by Your side, constructing this dream with patience and grace. Loving the way that You designed us to love. Tenderly giving and always forgiving. Allowing each other to grow with patience and grace. Humbly serving each other with joy.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. – Psalm 139:1-6, KJV

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.  You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. – Psalm 139:1-6, NIV
