Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
If every couple valued humility as much as we should, we wouldn’t have as many arguments as we do. If every spouse esteemed the other higher than themself, we wouldn’t have as much division as we do. If every marriage was filled with tender-hearted compassion and grace, we wouldn’t have as many broken hearts as we do.
Today’s divorce rate is devastating — brought on by hearts hardened by pride. Forgive us for the many times we’ve given pride a foothold within our hearts.
Grant us the virtue of humility, Lord. Give us the strength to control our anger. Help us to be tender-hearted and compassionate when we’re feeling far from it. Help us to put away all selfishness and strife, and remind us that choosing love is always better than pride.
In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
