Effectual Fervent Prayer – Today’s
Dear Heavenly Father,
Prayer is a gift from You and is one of the greatest gifts we can bring to our marriage. It cleanses our thoughts, strengthens our faith, and allows us to show love by praying for one another.
Thank You for the privilege of communing in prayer. Thank You for hearing our prayers and connecting with us in an intimate way. May we never take this gift for granted, or fail to realize how important it is for our marriage.
Your word tells us how “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16). May we live according to Your will and may it be our heart’s desire to pray without ceasing.
Teach us the best way to pray for each other. Give us the words when we can’t find them ourselves. Help us to sense when the other is weak. We ask that You remind us when and how we should pray.
In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Today’s Bible Verse
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit. – James 5:16-18, KJV
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. – James 5:16-18, NIV

Our Featured Book
This delightful and inspiring journal takes you on an exploration through the book of Hebrews. Insight, encouragement, and thought-provoking questions motivate you to dig deeper into scripture and hold fast to your faith. The words “better,” “greater,” and “more” appear frequently throughout Hebrews as the author sets out to show the reader that Christ is better than the angels, higher than the priests, and greater than any Old Testament prophet. The new covenant through the blood of Jesus Christ is superior in every way to that under the Levitical law. This literary masterpiece encourages us to grow, to press on in the face of affliction, and to grab hold of the gospel which we have been taught. From front to back, it explains who Christ is, what He’s done, and why He’s the only way to salvation.
