Clay In The Hands of the Master –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

If we expect the world to dance to our tune—in our way and in our time, we’re being foolish. And while we’re fooling ourselves, how blind we have become to Your divine grace and truth.

We know that Your thoughts for our lives far surpass our expectations, and so we ask that You take our marriage into Your hands to gently mold and shape us, according to Your wisdom—to Your will and for Your purpose.

Bending, growing, and shaping can hurt. Life can sting when we don’t get our way. Trials cut deep. But during the good times and the difficult times, may we remember that we’re clay in the hands of the Master. We are entirely dependent on You, Lord. Every moment we share, and every breath that we take is a gift of Your grace.

When we go through a trial, and when our lives are turned upside down, give us the faith to stand strong, and a love through which we find peace.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, Arise, and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words. Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel. – Jeremiah 18:1-6, KJV

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel. – Jeremiah 18:1-6, KJV
