Willing To Carry Our Cross –
Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
Help us to root out, and break down the strongholds in our lives. We need to remove any lust, any addiction, and any desire that stands between us and Your will.
Your word tells us that as believers, we are no longer slaves to sin, but slaves to righteousness. We thank You Father that by Your grace and Your strength we are able to destroy the strongholds that have plagued us.
Help us to bring every bad habit, and every evil thought into obedience to Your will. Give us power by Your Holy Spirit to resist temptation, and to defeat the enemy who has come to kill, and destroy the work You have started in us. May we always be willing to carry our cross—to put to death the sinful deeds of the body so that we may live to Christ Jesus.
In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Today’s Bible Verse
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. – 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, KJV
____________________________
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete. – 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, NIV
