The Depth Of True Love

The Depth Of True Love –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

As we read Your Word, Lord, we are reminded of Ruth, who gave up everything she held dear to follow her mother-in-law, Naomi, into an unfamiliar land. Her love and loyalty were so strong that she willingly left behind her home, her people, and her past to embrace a future she could not yet see.

We also see Jacob, who served Laban for seven years to win the hand of Rachel. The years “seemed unto him but a few days, because of his love for her” (Genesis 29:20). And when those seven years passed, he served another seven, driven by a love that endured all trials and disappointments.

We remember Elkanah, who was a pillar of support to his wife, Hannah, during her deepest sorrow. Despite her anguish, he stood by her, offering comfort and assurance, reflecting a love that was patient and kind, even in the face of hardship (1 Samuel 1).

But above all, when we look to Your Son, we see a love that surpasses all others. Jesus Christ gave His life so that we might live, demonstrating the ultimate sacrifice. In His death, He not only secured our salvation but also left us an example—to be crucified to this world and its temptations, just as He was. He calls us to take up our cross daily, to die to our own desires, and to live fully for You.

Thank You, Father, for showing us the depth of true love through Your Son. Help us to live out that love in our daily lives, without wavering. May we, like Christ, be crucified to this world, living in the light of Your truth and reflecting Your love in all that we do.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. – 1 John 4:7-11, KJV

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. – 1 John 4:7, NIV
