Words Hold Great Power –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

In this journey, our words hold great power. They have the potential to build up, encourage, and strengthen, but they also carry the weight to wound and tear down. Lord, we ask You to guide our speech so that it reflects Your love, kindness, and truth.

Teach us to listen with compassion and to respond with grace, especially in moments of tension or disagreement. When emotions run high, help us to pause and choose words that bring peace instead of hurt. Let our conversations be filled with patience and understanding, always seeking to uplift and honor one another as You have called us to do.

May we be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger, just as Your Word teaches. Guard our hearts from pride, bitterness, or harshness, and replace those with humility, forgiveness, and love. Help us to remember that our words have the power to reflect Your grace and bring light into our home.

Lord, we know we won’t always get it right, but we trust in Your mercy and Your ability to transform us from the inside out. Soften our hearts, and remind us that every word spoken is an opportunity to reflect the love of Christ.

We pray that our speech will be seasoned with kindness, bringing life and hope to one another and to those around us. Let our marriage be a living testimony of Your grace, a safe place where love is nurtured and strengthened through words of encouragement and respect.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
