Letting Go of the Need to Be Right - Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
Sometimes, without even realizing it, we can let pride sneak into our conversations. We want to be understood. We want to be heard. And if we’re honest, we sometimes just want to be right. But You’ve called us to something higher—to choose peace over pride, grace over winning.
Help us, Lord, to step back when our words get sharp and our hearts get stubborn. Teach us how to listen—to really listen—with patience and love. Remind us that it’s okay not to have the last word. That peace in our marriage matters more than proving a point.
Give us the kind of wisdom that’s described in Your Word—pure, peace-loving, gentle, and willing to yield. Help us to be quick to admit when we’re wrong, and just as quick to forgive when the other is. Fill our home with humility and kindness, the kind that only comes from walking closely with You.
May our conversations reflect Your character and our love reflect Your grace.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Today’s Bible Verse
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. — James 3:17, KJV
