Teach Us to Welcome Your Work in Us

Teach Us to Welcome Your Work in Us — Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear heavenly Father,

We thank You that You are continually shaping us, even in the moments we overlook. We ask that You help us welcome Your work in our lives and in our marriage. When You reveal areas that need refining, give us hearts that are willing rather than resistant.

Teach us to recognize the gentle ways You correct us—through conviction, through Scripture, and through the quiet awareness that something in us needs to change. We ask that You help us respond with humility, trusting that every adjustment You call us to makes space for deeper love and greater faithfulness.

Lord, remove whatever keeps us stuck—old habits, stubborn pride, or fears we have not yet surrendered. Open our eyes to the growth You desire for us and give us courage to follow where You lead.

May our marriage reflect this willingness to be shaped: softer words, deeper understanding, quicker repentance, and love that matures as we yield to Your hand.

We ask that You make us teachable, moldable, and anchored in the truth that Your work is always for our good and for Your glory.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. — Isaiah 64:8, KJV

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.Isaiah 64:8, NIV
