Choosing Forgiveness Again and Again — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
Thank You for the mercy You show us every single day. We come to You knowing that in marriage, we will sometimes disappoint one another. We will misunderstand. We will speak too quickly. We will fall short. And in those moments, we need Your help to choose forgiveness.
Lord, soften our hearts when we feel hurt. Guard us from replaying offenses or keeping a quiet record of wrongs. When pride tempts us to hold back grace, remind us how freely You have forgiven us through Christ. Teach us to release resentment before it has time to take root.
Help us to say “I’m sorry” without defensiveness and “I forgive you” without conditions. Give us courage to address issues honestly, but never harshly. Let forgiveness be more than words—it would be a sincere decision to move forward without punishing one another for past mistakes.
Father, protect our marriage from bitterness. When wounds feel fresh, draw us close to You first so that we respond from a place of humility rather than emotion. May forgiveness restore peace quickly and rebuild trust steadily.
We ask that our home would be marked by grace—grace that reflects the gospel, grace that heals, grace that keeps us united even when we stumble.
Thank You that Your mercies are new every morning. Teach us to extend that same mercy to each other.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
