Quick to Listen, Slow to Speak — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
Your Word calls us to be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. We bring our conversations before You today, knowing how much our words shape the tone of our home.
Teach us to listen well.
When we’re tempted to interrupt, help us pause. When we assume we understand, remind us to listen more carefully. Give us hearts that truly hear—not just words, but the thoughts and feelings behind them.
Lord, slow our speech. Guard our tongues from speaking too quickly or too sharply. Let our words be thoughtful, measured, and filled with grace.
And when frustration begins to rise, quiet our spirits. Help us step back before reacting. Give us the wisdom to respond in a way that brings peace instead of tension.
Father, let our conversations be marked by patience and understanding. May our home be a place where each of us feels heard, respected, and cared for.
Shape the way we speak and the way we listen, so that our marriage reflects the gentleness and wisdom that come from You.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
