Bearing the Fruit of the Spirit in Our Marriage

Bearing the Fruit of the Spirit in Our Marriage — Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear heavenly Father,

Your Word tells us that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Today we ask that these would not just be words we know, but qualities that grow within our marriage.

Grow this fruit in us.

Let love be steady between us.
Let joy find its way into our home.
Let patience shape our responses when we feel stretched.
Let kindness guide our tone in every conversation.

Lord, form goodness and faithfulness in our daily choices. Help us remain dependable and sincere with one another. Make gentleness a natural part of how we respond, especially in moments that feel difficult.

And Father, give us self-control. When emotions rise quickly, help us pause. When words come too easily, help us restrain them. Teach us to respond with wisdom rather than impulse.

We know this kind of life cannot be produced by effort alone. It is the work of Your Spirit within us. So we ask You to shape us—individually and together—so that our marriage reflects Your character.

Let these qualities grow quietly but steadily, until they become the natural expression of how we live and love.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
