Searching Our Hearts Before You — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
Your Word says, “Search me, God, and know my heart.” Today we come before You, not first asking You to change our spouse, but asking You to examine us.
Search us.
Show us where our attitudes have shifted.
Where our words have been careless.
Where our expectations have become unfair.
Where love has grown quieter than it should.
Lord, it is easy to notice where the other falls short. It is harder to see ourselves clearly. Gently uncover what we have ignored. Not to discourage us, but to draw us back to You.
If pride has taken root, humble us.
If resentment has settled in, soften us.
If we have withdrawn in small ways, call us back again.
Teach us to take responsibility for the part we play in the tone of our marriage. Remind us that change often begins in quiet surrender before it is seen in outward actions.
Father, give us courage to be honest with You. To sit in Your presence without defense. To allow Your Spirit to shape what needs to be shaped.
Create in us clean hearts—hearts that are willing to grow, quick to repent, and ready to love well again.
And as You work in us individually, let that work strengthen us together.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
