A Marriage That Chooses Gentle Words

A Marriage That Chooses Gentle Words — Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear heavenly Father,

We come before You today, asking that You would help us to guard our words.
So often we speak too quickly—words shaped more by emotion than by truth, more by frustration than by grace.

Lord, we ask that You teach us to slow down.
Give us wisdom to pause before we speak, and discernment to choose words that build up rather than tear down. Help us to recognize when our tone is harsh, and give us the humility to change.

Draw us closer to Christ. Let His gentleness shape our speech, and His patience guide our responses. Place in us a desire to speak in a way that reflects His character—honest, kind, and full of grace.

When tension rises, remind us that our words carry weight. Help us to answer softly, to listen well, and to choose peace over winning an argument.

May our marriage be marked by words that bring life—steady, thoughtful, and honoring to You.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
