A Marriage That Walks in Forgiveness — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We come before You knowing that forgiveness is not always easy. Hurt can settle in quietly, and if we’re not careful, it begins to shape the way we think, the way we speak, and the way we love. At times, we hold onto what should have been released.
Teach us to forgive as You have forgiven us.
Remind us of the mercy You’ve shown us through Christ—that while we were still sinners, You made a way for us to be restored. Help us not to measure forgiveness by our feelings, but by Your truth. Give us hearts that are willing to let go of offense, even when it feels undeserved.
Lord, we ask that You would soften anything in us that has grown hard. Where there is bitterness, bring healing. Where there is distance, lead us back to one another. Help us to be quick to extend grace and quick to seek it when we’ve caused hurt.
Shape our marriage into a place where forgiveness is practiced, not postponed.
Draw us closer to Christ, that we would reflect His humility and His compassion. Let our home be marked by mercy, where wrongs are not counted against each other, but laid down at the cross.
We trust You to do this work in us.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
