A Marriage That Lives with Gratitude — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We come before You today, aware of how easily we can focus on what’s lacking instead of what’s been given. Small frustrations can grow, and before long, gratitude is replaced with quiet discontent.
Turn our hearts back to thankfulness.
Teach us to recognize the good You’ve placed within our marriage—the ways You provide, the ways You sustain, and the ways You continue to shape us. Help us not to overlook the everyday blessings that quietly surround us.
Open our eyes, Lord.
To see each other with appreciation instead of expectation.
To notice what is right, instead of dwelling on what feels wrong.
To speak words that affirm, encourage, and give life.
Guard us from a spirit of complaint.
When we’re tempted to dwell on what we wish were different, remind us of Your faithfulness. When gratitude feels distant, lead us to choose it anyway—trusting that a thankful heart brings light into even the ordinary moments.
Shape our marriage into a place where gratitude grows.
Not just in seasons of ease, but in every circumstance. Let thankfulness steady our hearts, soften our words, and deepen our love for one another.
Draw us closer to Christ, where we are reminded again and again of all that we’ve been given through Him. May that truth overflow into our marriage, filling it with joy and quiet contentment.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
