A Marriage That Is Quick to Apologize

A Marriage That Is Quick to Apologize — Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear heavenly Father,

We come before You today, knowing that sometimes the hardest words to say are the ones we need most: I was wrong. Please forgive me.

It’s easy to defend ourselves, explain ourselves, or quietly hope the moment will pass. But You call us to something better. You call us to humility, honesty, and love that is willing to make things right.

Teach us to be quick to apologize.

When our words have been careless, help us not to brush them aside. When our actions have caused hurt, give us the courage to own them. When pride rises up and tries to protect our image, remind us that a tender heart is far more beautiful than a perfect appearance.

Lord, help us to keep short accounts with one another.

Not letting hurt linger.
Not letting silence build walls.
Not letting pride have the final word.

Give us hearts that are willing to confess, willing to listen, and willing to repair what has been strained. Help us to apologize without excuses and to forgive without holding back.

Draw us closer to Christ, who humbled Himself and showed us what love looks like in action. Let His grace shape the way we respond when we’ve fallen short.

May our marriage be a place where repentance is met with mercy, where honesty brings healing, and where love keeps leading us back to one another.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed.James 5:16, KJV

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5:16, NIV
