Over the years, countless readers have said, “I want to read the Bible, but I’m not sure where to start.” Others have said, “I know I should be reading my Bible more, but I never seem to get to it.”

A Marriage That Guards the Heart — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We come before You today, knowing that what happens in our hearts eventually shows up in our marriage. The thoughts we entertain, the hurts we hold, the attitudes we allow to grow—all of these begin to shape the way we speak, respond, and love.
Lord, help us to guard our hearts.
Not in a way that shuts each other out, but in a way that keeps sin from taking root. Help us to pay attention when resentment starts to rise, when comparison creeps in, or when selfishness quietly takes over.
We don’t always notice these things right away. Sometimes we only see them after our words have become sharp or our patience has worn thin. So we ask You to make us aware sooner. Give us hearts that are sensitive to Your Spirit and quick to turn back to You.
Teach us to bring our thoughts before You.
The anxious ones.
The critical ones.
The ones we’d rather not admit.
Shape what is happening within us so that what comes out of us is pleasing to You. Let our marriage be strengthened by hearts that are honest, humble, and surrendered to Your care.
Draw us closer to Christ, who is able to cleanse, restore, and renew us from the inside out. May the condition of our hearts reflect Your grace at work in us each day.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
