A Marriage That Speaks the Truth in Love — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We come before You today, knowing that truth and love both matter in our marriage. Sometimes we avoid hard conversations because we don’t want tension. Other times, we speak honestly, but not as gently as we should.
Lord, teach us to hold both together.
Help us to speak truth with kindness, and to love each other enough to be honest. When something needs to be said, give us courage. When our tone needs softening, give us humility.
Keep us from using truth as a weapon.
And keep us from calling silence peace when something really needs care.
Teach us to speak in a way that reflects Christ. Words that are honest, but not harsh. Clear, but not careless. Loving, but not afraid.
When we feel hurt, help us not to lash out. When we feel afraid, help us not to hide. When we need to listen, quiet our defenses and open our hearts.
Let our marriage become a place where truth is welcomed because love is present.
Draw us closer to Christ, who is full of grace and truth. Shape our words, our motives, and our hearts so that what we say brings healing, understanding, and deeper trust.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
