A Marriage That Chooses Gentleness — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We come before You today, aware of how easily our words and reactions can become sharp. In moments of stress or misunderstanding, gentleness can be the first thing we lose.
Teach us to be gentle.
Not weak or passive, but controlled, thoughtful, and led by Your Spirit. Help us to respond with care, especially when emotions run high. Guard us from harshness, impatience, and careless words that can wound.
Lord, we ask that You would shape our responses.
When tension rises, slow us down.
When we feel misunderstood, help us to answer with grace.
When frustration builds, remind us to choose a softer way.
Give us hearts that reflect Your kindness.
To speak in a way that brings peace instead of stirring conflict.
To listen without interrupting.
To respond with patience, even when it’s difficult.
Shape our marriage through gentleness.
Let it calm what feels unsettled, strengthen what feels fragile, and create a space where both of us feel safe, heard, and valued.
Draw us closer to Christ, who showed strength through gentleness and truth through love. As we follow Him, teach us to walk in that same spirit with one another.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
