A Marriage That Remains Teachable — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We come before You today, knowing how easy it is to become set in our ways. We can grow comfortable in our habits, slow to listen, and resistant to change—especially when it requires humility.
Keep our hearts teachable.
Help us to remain open to Your correction and willing to grow. Give us the grace to receive instruction without defensiveness, and the wisdom to recognize when You are shaping us through our circumstances and through one another.
Lord, we ask that You would soften our hearts.
When we are quick to justify ourselves, slow us down.
When we resist correction, remind us of our need for growth.
When pride rises, lead us back to humility.
Teach us to listen well.
Not only to You through Your Word, but to each other with care and respect. Help us to value understanding more than being right, and to respond with a spirit that is willing to learn.
Shape our marriage through this posture of humility.
Let it be a place where growth is welcomed, where change is embraced, and where both of us are being formed more and more into the likeness of Christ.
Draw us closer to Christ, who walked in perfect obedience to the Father. As we follow Him, make us willing to be led, corrected, and refined.
