A Marriage That Speaks Life — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We come before You today, aware of how much power there is in the words we speak. A few sentences can encourage and strengthen, or they can discourage and wound. Too often, we don’t realize the weight our words carry.
Teach us to speak life.
Help us to choose words that build up rather than tear down. When we are frustrated or tired, guard us from speaking carelessly. Remind us that our words should reflect Your truth, Your kindness, and Your grace.
Lord, we ask that You would guide our speech.
When we are tempted to criticize, help us to encourage.
When we feel hurt, lead us to speak with honesty and gentleness.
When silence would create distance, give us the courage to speak what is good and right.
Give us hearts that overflow with life-giving words.
Words that affirm.
Words that strengthen.
Words that remind each other of what is true.
Shape our marriage through this kind of speech.
Let our conversations become a place of safety, where we are known, valued, and encouraged. Let our words bring peace instead of tension and hope instead of discouragement.
Draw us closer to Christ, whose words bring life and truth. As we follow Him, teach us to use our voices in a way that honors You and blesses one another.
