A Marriage That Walks in Compassion — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We come before You today, knowing how much we need compassion in our marriage. It’s easy to become focused on our own feelings, our own struggles, and our own perspective, while missing what the other may be carrying.
Teach us to be compassionate.
Help us to see one another with tenderness and care. When one of us is hurting, give us hearts that move closer, not farther away. Remind us that behind every word and every reaction, there may be something deeper that needs understanding.
Lord, we ask that You would shape our responses.
When we feel misunderstood, help us to respond with grace.
When we see weakness, help us to offer support instead of criticism.
When we’re tempted to pull back, lead us to lean in with kindness.
Give us eyes to notice.
To see when encouragement is needed.
To recognize when patience is required.
To respond with gentleness, even when it’s difficult.
Shape our marriage through compassion.
Let it soften hard moments, bring comfort where there is strain, and strengthen the bond between us. Let it reflect the mercy You have shown to us time and time again.
Draw us closer to Christ, who is full of compassion and never turns away from us in our need. As we follow Him, teach us to care for one another with that same depth of love.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
