A Marriage That Walks in Mercy — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We come before You today, thankful for the mercy You have shown us. Again and again, You meet us with compassion, not giving us what our sins deserve, but offering forgiveness and grace.
Teach us to walk in that same mercy.
Help us not to be quick to hold onto wrongs or rehearse past hurts. When we are tempted to keep score, remind us of the mercy You have extended to us through Christ. Give us hearts that are willing to release what we’ve been holding onto.
Lord, we ask that You would soften us.
When we feel hurt, lead us toward mercy.
When we feel justified in our frustration, remind us to respond with grace.
When we struggle to let go, help us to trust You with what feels unresolved.
Give us a spirit that reflects Your compassion.
To forgive without delay.
To love without condition.
To respond with kindness, even when it’s undeserved.
Shape our marriage through mercy.
Let it bring healing where there has been hurt. Let it restore what feels strained and strengthen the bond between us. Let mercy become a steady presence in our relationship, guiding the way we respond to one another.
Draw us closer to Christ, who is rich in mercy and faithful in love. As we follow Him, teach us to walk in that same mercy each day.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
