Do Not Let The Past Define Our Future — Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, recognizing that we have made mistakes—words spoken in haste, actions we regret, and moments where we have fallen short of the love You call us to give. But Lord, You are the God of new beginnings. Your mercies are new every morning, and Your grace is greater than our failures.
Help us to let go of the burdens of yesterday. Where hurt lingers, bring healing. Where regret holds us back, replace it with the hope of restoration. Teach us to forgive as You have forgiven us—to release bitterness and embrace grace. May we not allow the past to define our future but instead choose love, patience, and kindness in all that we do.
Give us hearts that seek unity rather than division. When memories of past mistakes try to steal our peace, remind us that we are covered by Your love and that nothing is beyond redemption. Fill our marriage with renewed joy, trust, and a steadfast commitment to walk forward, hand in hand, leaning on You.
We surrender our hurts, our failures, and our fears to You, Lord. May Your love be the foundation that holds us together, today and always.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Today’s Bible Verse
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. — Ephesians 4:31-32, KJV
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. — Ephesians 4:31-32, NIV
