Humility isn't weakness

Humility Isn't Weakness — Today's Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of marriage—a place where love is refined, and character is shaped. We ask that You teach us today that humility isn’t weakness, and meekness isn’t passivity, but both are marks of Christlikeness and strength in Your eyes.

Help us to let go of pride—the kind that keeps score, has to be right, or demands its own way. Instead, give us gentle hearts that seek to understand, to listen before speaking, and to serve without needing applause.

In moments of tension, may You remind us that choosing humility doesn’t mean we’ve lost, but that love has won. Let us see each other through eyes of grace, remembering how often You’ve extended that same grace to us.

Shape our marriage to reflect Your patience, Your kindness, and Your peace. Let our home be one where we lower ourselves not to be walked on, but to lift each other up.

We want to be strong—not in control, but in character. Not by standing tall over one another, but by kneeling together before You.

In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.Philippians 2:3-4, KJV

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2:3-4, NIV
