Love Isn't About Keeping Score — Today's Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
We know that real love isn’t about keeping score or getting our own way—it’s about showing up with gentleness and putting each other first. And we’ll be honest—it’s not always easy. Sometimes pride gets in the way. Sometimes we’re more focused on being right than being kind.
But we want to love the way You love. Teach us how to stay humble—not in a way that tears us down, but in a way that lifts each other up. Help us to listen with patience, to speak with kindness, and to keep looking out for each other’s needs, even in the little things.
Remind us that gentleness isn’t soft or passive—it’s choosing peace when we could choose anger. It’s holding back when we could push forward. And it’s letting grace lead the way, especially when we’re tired or frustrated.
Shape our hearts to be more like Yours. Let humility and kindness shape our marriage so that everything we do reflects You.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
Today’s Bible Verse
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. —Philippians 2:3–4, KJV
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. — Philippians 2:3–4, NIV
