Choosing Forgiveness Again and Again — Today’s Marriage Prayer
Dear heavenly Father,
Your Word calls us to bear with one another and to forgive as You have forgiven us. Today we come before You, aware of how much we need Your help to live this out in our marriage.
Teach us to forgive.
When small offenses begin to build, help us release them quickly. When deeper hurts come, give us the strength to let go, even when it takes time. Guard our hearts from holding onto resentment or keeping a record of wrongs.
Lord, remind us often of the grace You have shown us. You have forgiven us fully, not in part, and not reluctantly. Let that truth soften our hearts toward one another.
When it feels difficult to forgive, meet us there. Give us the willingness to take the first step, even when pride resists. Help us choose mercy over being right, and peace over holding on.
Father, create in us a spirit that is ready to forgive, just as You have forgiven us in Christ. Let forgiveness become a steady rhythm in our marriage, restoring what has been strained and strengthening what You have joined together.
In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
