Communicate With Wisdom and Compassion

Communicate With Wisdom and Compassion –
Today’s Marriage Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

It’s easy to be misunderstood. It’s natural to get frustrated when we’re angry and hurt. What isn’t so easy is taking a humble approach when we’re frustrated.

Help us to communicate with wisdom, compassion, and grace. Instead of losing our cool, or stewing in anger, teach us to step back and carefully consider our words before stepping forward again.

Lord, we ask that You grant us the patience to listen to each other, as we try to understand each other’s heart.

This world tells us to make self-centered decisions, while Your Word teaches us to bear with one another and to forgive each other as You forgive us.

Lord, we ask that You give us the strength to resist pride, to let go of our right to be right, and to speak with kindness.

In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Today’s Bible Verse

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. – Colossians 3:12-15, KJV

________________________________

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. – Colossians 3:12-15, NIV
